Urban Organics Featured In Outside Online

February 2019

Journalist Michael Behar has followed Urban Organics for two years, and Outside Magazinepublished his insights in February 2019. The article, “Urban Organics Wants To Fix Food,” presents an in-depth look at the aquaponics operation in St. Paul and reports on what it calls an “locavore’s dream,” an urban farm capable of producing 16,000 pounds of greens a week. Urban Organics co-founder Fred Haberman is quoted as saying that a key goal of this hyper local food production model is to “to decentralize the food system and eradicate hunger. And to prove that you can take a distressed physical asset like a brewery and make it part of turning a neighborhood around.”
